BACKGROUND TO THE FRANCHISE
ADEPT Cleaning Services was launched in 1995 by Alan Thomson, a chartered engineer returning from work overseas.
Like the true Scot that he is, Alan wished to invest his hard-earned savings in a business with a real future. He decided on commercial and industrial cleaning because he could see that there would always be a need for such a service.
A few years later, seeing that even smaller firms were beginning to outsource their cleaning, Alan decided to radically change the business focus of ADEPT Cleaning Services.
He realised that he should concentrate more on these smaller firms because there were so many of them and they were usually prepared to pay a premium rate for higher quality service.
As a result, ADEPT Cleaning Services franchisees will be encouraged to concentrate on commercial cleaning for small to medium-sized clients, with the emphasis on offices and retail premises.
The wisdom of this business model is well demonstrated by the fact that the franchisor’s own home-based operation in Tamworth today employs more than 150 people and is generating an annual turnover well in excess of £1 million.
